5 Game-Changing Habits to Transform Your Life in Just 24 Hours

Published 02/07/2023

How many times have you considered making a change in your life but didn’t?

Now that we're a month into the new year, your thoughts have likely moved on from resolutions and habit creation. But should that mindset be an annual practice, or would you be better served by continuously improving?

So, what can you do in the next 24 hours that could alter the course of your life?

It doesn't matter what you do as long as you're in motion. The less time you spend thinking and the more time you spend doing, the closer you'll get to the life you want.

Try one of these ideas on for size and just run with it. Report back to us when your life is awesome.

Flip your answers

How many potential opportunities have you missed by saying no?

  • Introducing yourself to someone new.
  • Taking a stab at that creative project or business.
  • Enjoying random experiences you could've had if you said yes to invitations.

How many things do you say yes to even though you know you shouldn't?

  • Requests you didn't want to fulfill but did so out of obligation and guilt.
  • Vices with lasting adverse effects.
  • Continuing to allow people in your life that you know you shouldn't be there.

If you can flip the equation, you'll transform your life.

Accept, forgive, and reframe the past

First, accept what has happened. It's done, and there's nothing you can do to change it. Instead of trying to bury your past transgressions and traumas, feel them fully so you can let them go.

Next, forgive yourself and others (to the extent you can). To forgive yourself, understand that you were doing the best you could at the moment with the available information. Toward others, know that the bitterness you have for them does nothing but make you feel worse.

Last, reframe the past. A helpful frame is to look at everything that has happened so far as something that happened for you instead of something that happened to you.

You can't change what happened, but you can change what it means to you.

Stand up straight

This is both a literal and metaphorical piece of advice. Stop walking around with your shoulders hunched over. If you remain hunched, you can hide and avoid some pain, but then you'll never get to experience the world fully.

Hiding is a coping mechanism that feels safe but ultimately destroys your confidence. Remember, you can't have one without the other. Confidence and vulnerability are inexplicably tied to each other.

Live your dream right now

In the book The Way of The Superior Man: A Spiritual Guide to Mastering the Challenges of Women, Work, and Sexual Desire, the author suggests trying to do what you'd do in your dream life right now, even if you only have a small amount of time to do it.

Ask yourself, "What would you do during the day if someone waved a magic wand and gave you the life of your dreams?"

With whatever time and resources you have right now, try getting as close to that experience as possible to see what it feels like. Doing this shows you that you're capable of having it.

Memento Mori

Remember this quote about life from Steve Jobs:

"For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: 'If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?' And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something."

How many things would you change in your life if you knew it'd be over soon?

Understanding the shortness of life helps you stop caring so much about grinding and stressing over money. You'll be less afraid to take risks. You'll stop waiting for everything to be perfect and start taking action.

The title of this article mentions game-changing habits. That means performing them daily or weekly and not only thinking about them now.

Transformation comes from deciding to change your life. Too many of us get stuck in "thinking about it" mode. Stop thinking and start doing!
