Get some sun
Studies point to a distinct seasonal variation in blood pressure from summer to winter. Researchers attributed this disparity in seasonal blood pressure due to vitamin D from the sun and the higher temperatures until recently. When it's hot, blood vessels dilate to allow blood to pass closer to the surface of the skin for a cooling effect.
Further studies determined that vitamin D supplements don't produce the same effect, and temperature change affects blood pressure only slightly when indoors. Finally, a researcher in Scotland discovered that your skin contains a reservoir of nitric oxide that activates when exposed to UV light.
The level of nitric oxide released by UV light lessens as the subject's skin becomes darker. Unfortunately, this hack is less effective for those of us with naturally darker pigmentation, but on the plus side, we don't burn as quickly, so we can spend more time in the healing rays of the sun.
